The story of my first Wallhanger.

This bow season is one that I will remember for the rest of my
hunting days.
It all started about three weeks before West Virginia
bow season opened. This year was different for me in that I was ready.
All of the other seasons I found myself rushing to get all of my equipment
ready. I had a nice spot picked out on a point where two gullies run down
a hill to a small creek that was about 500 yards away. From this point
I could watch deer movement up, down and a cross the hillside. this was
a perfect spot for deer travel. Me and my hunting buddy, Tim built a tree
stand at the top of this point. I waited three days to let the scent of
the chain saw leave the area before I started putting out some corn and
apples. Yes I use bait. Some hunters don't believe in bait and some states
have laws against it. My opinion is simply this. Food seems to calm deer
down, and you are better off getting a good clean kill on over bait than
one that is alert passing through. That is the only advantage you have
on a deer over bait. They can still smell you, see you, and hear you. Just
because you have a pile af apples under your tree doesn't mean that the
deer are going to go brain dead and walk right in and let you shoot them.
It takes just as much skill hunting over bait as is does over a scrape.
By the way what is a scrape? Bait ! Now that I got that off of my chest
let's get back to the story.
Page two comming soon.
