This deer was shot 3 weeks after my back surgery. It made the 12 days in the hospital all worth while!

My first critter ever shot with a bow was a rabbit. Here I shot 2 within a half hours time from my backyard. The meat was tastey!

Now this is just disgusting, but a photo I thought I’d share nonetheless. The fibrous protrusions (tumors) from the rabbits head are from a disease spread by ticks or fleas and is called Shopes Papilloma. It’s most commonly found in the most  central states of the U.S.    This is how the story of  the jackalope is believed to have come into being. A 15 yard shot was all it took for “The Freak” to go down.

If you look hard enough, you can see a striped gopher on my arrow.

It was a 15 yard shot right through its neck.  :-)
