BACKYARD BUCKS 2001

What a difference a month makes ! This buck is a regular visitor to our backyard feeder. He didn't look like much in July, (1st picture) but blossomed into a nice seven pointer. Not too bad for a 1 1/2 year old buck.

This young four pointer looks more like an antelope ! His antlers almost touch at the top.

These two bucks are cutting through a hedge row behind my house, going from one soybean field to another. The eight pointer on the left was a little three pointer last year. He had a nasty wound on his left side then, but now a scar is visable where it healed. The buck on the right is an eleven pointer that we have been watching all summer. He has a basic nine point rack, but has a double browtine on the left antler, and a sticker point just above that. (not seen in this picture.)

This high racked five pointer is a regular visitor to my Ladino clover food plot. In the picture on the left you can see that he is just starting to shed the velvet on his right antler. Two days later, it is completely gone, and his rack is polished up nice.

Does and fawns mow into the clover like it is candy !

Momma keeps on the lookout while junior gorges himself.

This dandy six pointer likes to have his picture taken ! I have a bunch of shots of this fellow... the camera flash doesn't bother him at all. Notice that he is shedding his summer coat. (The red patches in the left picture.) In the bottom picture, you can see that he has shed the rest of his summer coat, and his antler velvet.

This big-bodied nine pointer must have rubbed his velvet off just before coming into the clover patch. Notice that his rack is still wet and bloody .

A few days later, his rack is a nice polished brown color
