My First Buck with my bow by Ginger Perkins

I got into my stand at 6:45 am.. running a little late that morning. :)
At 8:00 am, I looked up, and thought I saw one, but wasn't sure, well I
looked away just for a minute and I looked back up, and I saw his rack
move in the weeds. Well, he started to come down the same trail I
walked in on.. I thought he smelled me at first... but, he came in 25
yards broadside, but I couldn't shoot because there was too many limbs
in the way.. well, he started off the other way.. I thought to myself.. ahh
nuts! but I did thank God for at least letting me see one. Well, all of
a sudden, he turned and started my way.. my heart was pounding.. he walked
right in front of me at 15 yards.. I had to wait until he went past
before I could move... He was still 15 yards away, and his head went
behind some trees, so I drew back on him, and he was quartering
away... so I let go.. and all I heard was "THUMP" I saw the blood spurt
out of one side.. and I knew it was a good hit.. I shot him at 8:15 am.. I
got down and marked my blood.. and went back to the house and got my dad
and my boyfriend Jon... It's about 9:00 am now, and we went back and
started tracking... This was the first deer I shot that had a blood
trail.. the other 4 I have shot just dropped... anyway... Jon pointed out
one half on my arrow.. yep, I had a complete pass through.. I was so
excited... then a few feet ahead was the other half... I was so busy
trailing that Jon and dad saw the buck up ahead before I did... I was
looking on the ground and awful lot.. when Jon told me to look up, and
there was nothing but a spray of blood on the weeds ahead of me... then,
there he was.. awww he was AWESOME!!! he ran 48 yards.. I had a double
lung shot... he died with his head up too right next to a fresh rub... I
thought that was neat!
