Making an Osage Board Bow

So I wanted to make a board bow.  Problem is I'm an avowed osage cultist and can't bear to use whitewoods :-)  So I decided to make one out of osage.  The first thing I needed then was an osage board.  Being very cheap and plumb drowning in osage, I decided to make my own.

This is a chunk of osage that I was going to make slats for a bamboo backed bow when I discovered a little problem.  Actually two little problems in the form of wood borers who had chewed neatly about halfway through the chunk.

Someone once told me that wood borers only go to the heartwood on osage and then stop.  Must have been some different worms he had.  The little buggers are kinda fun to kill though.  I figured instead of wasting good wood for a couple holes, I'd make this into a board and then use the Ferret's board bow instructions.  So I hadda make me a board first.

Simple.  Saw the chunk in half.

Cut a splice.

Add some URAC, a little heat, and some time. And...

...voila.  Instant board.
Next I'll glue a handle piece on and then follow Ferret's instructions.
