James' Bow

Here's James with his new bow.  He'll be showing it off at Cloverdale.

He's also got a spear and a snaky arrow.  The spear is river cane with an osage broadhead.  The arrow is river cane and has natural turk feathers tied on with a snake shaped trade head.  All dyed red and wicked cool.  His bow is a slightly recurved osage.  About his height and pulling around 20# at 25".  He loves it.  He helped a lot on it at the Indiana Bow Bee back a couple months ago.  The stave had some history since it was a really short but high quality piece that Gary Davis helped me with at the very first MOJam.  I decided I don't like short bows so I remade it into something James could shoot.  All the designs were his idea and are based on some pics from Hamm and Allely's Encyclopedia.

Laine's First Hunt

Here's my daughter Lainey's first time hunting.  She has asked to go turkey hunting since last spring.  Last spring was not a good one and even I didn't go hunting for turkeys so this year is better so we're finally going.  She's 4 years old.  I didn't want to get her up early so it will be a late afternoon hunt trying to roust a bird after he gets done with his morning soirees and feeding afternoon.  We'll see.  Here's the drive down.

We actually bump into some birds in a utility cut so I find a nearby spot to set the deke's and blind and we start calling.  We get no response so we wait it out quietly.  Laine does a great job but after an hour or so, it's apparent they aren't coming in.

She's aweful cute while she's waiting though :)

We get up and walk around a bit.  Lainey's showing me an "itchy spot" while I'm trying to get a nice shot of me with my bow and arrow.  The bow is one made for me by Mickey "The Ferret" Lotz.  He called it "PFFFT-HMMM" and even got an article published in PA on it.  It is a wicked turkey bow.  The arrow is one made by my friend  Dan "Dano" Gren.  It is river cane with a cool tracer on the fletch.  It has a head knapped by Mikki "Cavebear" Melvin.

Lainey's tiring of the photos but she wanted to demonstrate how well her camo works.  This camo was a gift from someone from TradGang.  Wish I could recall his name right now.  Senior moment...I got it at work though.

Here's the bow and arrow by themselves.

And Lainey again.  Not that I'm showing her off or anything.

Come on Dad, no more pictures!

Here's what she really was after.  A "nature walk" that was a dendrology (tree identification) trail.   Lainey's trying to figure this one out.  Nice green, eh?

One last one with Lainey and me by the lake.  What a great day!
I am more blessed than I deserve to be.  Great friends, great kids, a good relationship with God, a good job, wonderful wife and all the bounty of the great green Earth that my Lord gave to me.
God Bless You All.  Thanks for looking.
