John's Bowhunting Page

This is my first bow killed buck

I killed him in Henry County KY in November of 1996.  He was shot from a 15' high treestand at 12 yards with my PSE Polaris Compound as he trailed a doe during the first part of the rut.  I use Satellite Mag 125s on the compound.  I got him in the back part of the lungs and took out the liver.  We didn't have a good blood trail so we gave him all night.  My buddy Kenny found him 125 yards later.  He's on my wall as a reminder of a very special hunt. [The deer, not Kenny!]

Colorado 1998

One of my greatest joys is building selfbows from local trees.  Check out my:

Bowyer Page

and especially my:

Stalking Tiller Live Page

for some pretty cool stuff (if I do say so myself)!
Most of the inspiration and instruction on how to build a bow came from folks at the  Stickbow .

Here's a nice paper written by Mooseman on Hunting in Alaska.
