Buffalo Horn Tip Overlays

Here's a way to put horn tip overlays on a selfbow. These happen to be from a selfbow-killed bison. It was shot with a knapped flint head. Good medicine!

Start with a fairly well-formed bow tip.

Here's the horn

Bandsaw out a chunk a little wider than the tip. Leave it long so you can hold it when you flatten it.

Here's one way of doing that.

We want to flatten the bow tip too.

Make sure they mate up pretty good.

A little cyanoacrylate glue and then some clamps.

After a day and a little shaping, this is what it looks like.
