2004 Deer Hunts

These are pics of the deer I killed the second weekend of shotgun season in Boone County, Indiana.  Darren Shue got me on the property and told me where to sit and what the deer would do.  Thanks Buddy!  15 minutes after legal light, doe #1 shows up 45 yards away.  I shot her and as I was approaching her, 2 more does run off.  I made sure she was down and sat back down in the same place.  I had 2 deer walk by 10 minutes later but no shots presented.  I doe bleated like crazy and five minutes later, doe #2 shows up and I dropped her. You can see her in the second picture on the floor.

I promise my oldest daughter isn't nearly as weirded out as she looks :)  She's silly!  An hour into boning the deer out, she's asking to help.  She helped me wrap some of the meat too.  That's James in the pic too.

The night before I told my youngest daughter that I'd get her a couple deer.  When I pulled them from the truck, she said "Oh, thank you Daddy for the deer!"  So they are really Lainey's deer, not mine.  I hope she'll share with the rest of the family.

Here's James and me during muzzloader season in Parke County, Indiana.

We built a little blind and snuggled up.  James fell asleep and a few minutes later I roused him.  He wouldn't wake easily.  He fell back asleep and of course the deer show up...20 yards away.  I couldn't wake him and culdn't really get a bead on the does with him in my lap.  They eventually saw me angling to get a shot.  I woke James up and told him what he missed :)
