I caught this alagator gar on the Alabama River by jugging.
If you are not familiar with jugging, all you
do is attach a cord to a jug, in this case a mountain dew bottle,
with a #1 hook. Attach some bait and wait
for the jugg to start diving up and down in the water.
Paddle over and lift the jug out of the water.
