"About me" I guess that topic is pretty self expanatory. I know people don't usually care to hear a persons life history and if you don't want to, then just click back to my homepage! I have been hunting for over 21 years! Man that seems like a long time! I have enjoyed the simple fun of hunting bull frogs with my BB gun and even shooting a couple with an old Bear fiberglass recurve. I didn't get really serious about hunting until I turned 12 years of age. My dad took me to get my Hunters Education and as I say it "This is Where the Passion was born!!!" I was born in Ft. Campbell KY Army Hospital. My dad was in the Army at the time so as you can guess I was destined to move around a lot. Do to some very unfortunate events however, he passed away in a car accident. He left my mom and I in good care though. My grandparents took care of us and my mom remarried a couple years later! I have two sisters, Shawna & Jackie, and a brother Jamie! You will see some pictures of them here in these pages. I pretty much call Boonville, MO my home since I did start and graduate school there! Most people always wanted to get out of town growing up, but I could have cared less. I liked my home! During my youth I was fortunate to take a few deer! My first came at age 12 when I shot a six point on conservation land with a rifle. I started bowhunting after that and two years later at age 14 I took my first deer with a bow, a young doe. I knew from that moment on that Bowhunting was going to be my passion! It still is today! That same season I took a nine point with my rifle which sealed the deal! I continued to take a deer every year since then. I took mostly does and very rarely saw bucks in those days! Maybe because I was just wanted to be successful in taking deer with archery tackle. One year I told myself that I was going to hold out for a buck with my bow. Any buck would satisfy me. After passing on several does through a month and a half of hunting I finally got my chance. I was sitting in stand one morning and I heard a deer moving through the thick brush behind me. I looked down and saw antlers and made my mind up at that time I was going to take a shot if it presented itself. The buck passed a mere six yards from the base of my tree and my arrow hit it's mark and a short tracking job later I found my first buck, a nice five pointer. Nobody was around for pictures so unfortunately I do not have anything but the rack from this one. I continuted to take more does after that! I never did worry about having to shoot bucks! As far as I was concenred, and I still am, anything with a bow is a trophy. Now don't get me wrong, I love putting my hands around a nice set of horns, but that isn't what hunting is about to me. I just enjoy being out there and seeing nature in it's natural state. In January 1994 after two years of college, I decided I needed to do something else with my life so I joined the United States Air Force. I went to school to become a helicopter mechanic and after graduating technical school, where I met my wife Kristi, got married and went on to my first duty station at Hurlburt Field, Fl. We lived in a trailer for the first couple years waiting to get into base housing. While in our home I was able to start shooting again. I had enough room to shoot 40 yards beside the trailer, so I continued to practice every day. I joined the local archery club there at the base and soon became the club secretary. I enjoyed shooting several tournaments and within a couple months began placing in the top three of every tournament I entered. Kristi and I enjoyed ourselves there spending time at the beaches and even fishing in the sound and catching sail cat and brim. I also got Kristi interested in shooting archery while we were there. After going to numerous tournaments with me, Kristi figured out that if she was going to follow me around the course she might as well be shooting. We bought her a used Hoyt bow from some friends and she shot that for the first couple years. I took her hunting with me a couple times when we took our annual trip to Missouri for my fall deer hunt. I remember the first time she went hunting with me, she doesn't like heights so she sat at the bottom of the tree where my treestand was located on my Uncles place. We sat there for the evening hunt and after about an hour of sitting there I spotted a bobcat walking by about 30 yards behind and up the hill from us. I drew my bow back and let the arrow fly. To my surprise and Kristi's I missed. Of course Kristi was a little scared after that, she was sitting on the ground after all! I lucked out and shot a small doe that year and we hunted a couple more times as well. She got her first experience at ground level with a nice doe, but because she was sitting flat on her rear, she couldn't pull her bow back. The doe snorted and ran off. I know that had to be a bit scary as it was early in the morning and it was just starting to get light.
