2) ETAR028 Kenny, izzat yew? LOL

3) ETAR029 Hmmmm #26 again - but with his boots on backwards - LOL. Naw, actually Paul, taking a neat shot over his shoulder with the Kodak, good job.

4) ETAR030

5) ETAR031 Kenny Yoder, "4runr"

6) ETAR032 T.J.

Row Four: These next three were taken by Jerry, "JL" Thank you, bud.

1) ETAR Greg with "Hope", the St, Jude fund raising bow.

2) ETAR "JL" Jerry

3) ETAR Ron

4) Mysticguido of NJ and a number of trad forums with his recently compleated Red Oak Pyramid style, board bow - 68" ntn, 51# @ 24", with Wenge wedge nocks wrapped with sinew, and Osage and Ipe handle.

5) A little closer look at what I see as a great tiller and pretty bow. Thanks for sharing, Guido.

6) This little cutie is the daughter of "upatree", Corey Heltz of tradgang and Loisianna. Corey made this fine Red Oak bow specially for her and cut the leather back out of an old glove for the handle wrap. Great job, Corey, in more ways than one.

Row Five: 1) Another up and coming tradganger young archer. 13 year old, Jacob Grice, son of "Jacobsladder", Steve Grice, of Dansville MI. Jacob is at Full Draw with his Riverraisen bow, by Tom Moran , 60", 48# @ 28" Steve is even now in the process of making some new 5/16" Woodies for Jacob. Good tending to the boy's "raising", Steve.

2) Justin Snyder with his Bamboo Backed Ipe that won BOM Laminated Bow for July on Primitive Archer. As Justin said, Ipe is "a beast to bend ...," so he had to do some fancy kerf cutting and tapdancing to make his fine bow come out like this, and then ran away with the win. 50" TToT - 48 1/2" ntn, 50# @ 26". Justin is from Utah.

3) Ryan O'sullivan took his fourth win by scoring July Self Bow BOM on PA  This one is of "Thorn Apple". He said he thinks it is also known as Hawthorn but isn't sure. He cut the tree that the stave came from on his mother's place, and hopes to take a Deer with it in that same place this year. He toys with the idea that perhaps the Deer he might take could have eaten apples from the very tree he made his bow from. Rattan wrapped handle, with material from a mutual friend here in NC, Pat B. More good mojo. Ryan colored the bow with two colors of leather dye to aid in camoflage. 64" ntn, 50# @ 27" Go get 'im, Ryan!

4) This is "Saw Filer" of PA with one he brought to my attention, knowing I like FD pics, and especially backlit ones. Shannon says, " ..just a simple, smooth shootin bow." It's 59" ntn, 50# @ 27", 1 1/4" wide at the widest part (other than handle) and 1/2" wide at the tips. Made of Osage, and dyed a real dark color. Shannon hails from KY, and has appeared in these pages before also. Thanks again, my friend.

5) From the Sissipaha Shoot in Burlington, NC on 16 Aug come the next three Full Draw pics, from "TradPaul", of tradgang.com, Shown here.

6) TradPauls lovely wife.

Row Six: 1) This is "Clear", friend of TradPaul's

2 & 3) I currently have a thread on a couple forums in which I am recording my building of my first Holmegaard style bow. This gentleman was kind and generous enough to post some pictures of his recently built "Holmi" style bow on the thread on tradgang.com. It is a beauty and since a FD pic was included I have quickly copied it to these pages, with pleasure. "Black Wolf, Ray Cook, of Colorado and tg, built his Holmi out of Osage. It is 50# @ 28", 64" long and Ray used his considerable bowyering talents to "decorate" it with Diamond Back Rattler skins, Coyote fur, Black and White acrylic paints, and put a Tru-Oil finish on it. 3) gives you a sideview of the Holmi at Full Draw. What a great bow and job, Ray, as is the frontal Full Draw pic - Thank you for sharing.

4) PaleoPlanet.com has been host to the second annual B.I.T.H. (Bow In A Hat) Swap and some of the bows exchanged have been being posted in a thread for that purpose. The following pics are taken from the B.I.T.H. I don't have all the bow stats but the Full Draws for these great self bows by cyber-friends, for cyber-friends,  certainly belong here. First up is "OrienM" with his bith bow, built for him by "Bow Dark".

5) Next is Bow Dark with his, made by "Jonahhh".

6) Here is "RWelch" full drawing his fine bow, by "waterlogged".

Row Seven: 1) This is "Madcrow6969" pulling a bow by "Nugget"

2)Continuing The B.I.T.H. bow swaps, here is "Venisonburger" with the bow built for him by the first bowyer in this section, OrienM. There may be more later but there already were more pictures posted this year than last year, so we appreciate being ahead of the game. Thanks, guys.

3) Thimo, of PaleoPlanet, setting up an ambush for a guy a couple of hills over, with one of his 100# plus war bows. This beauty he made of Black Locust and just finished. It is a bow with snakey character, even more in one of the limbs than it appears in this picture.

4) This is a Full Draw pic of a bow recently made by "coolartistpk", Phillip, of CA and Paleoplanet.com. The bow is an interesting one with fine lines made from , as Phillip says, "leftovers". It is Bamboo with a Maple core, 40# @ 26", 68 inches long . Nice job, PK, and looking for more in the future.

5) Time for August's Bow of the Month winners from Primitive Archer.com. Self bow category was taken by Cowboy, Paul Wolfe of TX, with this outstanding Osage R/D Recurve, 58" ntn, 60# @ 28" Another fine bow, Paul - congrats to you (out of a huge field too).

6) Laminated Bow class went to two tied winners - and they were both Marc St. Louis of Ontario. The Full Draw pics are a little abreviated for lack of room in the collage - LOL but you can see the great tillers just the same. One is a White Ash Backed Yew lb, 61 ", 1 1/2" wide at the widest point, 55# @ 28". The other one is a Bamboo Backed Rosewood, 60" long, 1 1/8 wide, 55# @ 28" with Walrus tusk tip Overlays. Masterful work, as usual, Marc

Row Eight: 1) "knightd" of here in NC made a bow for a young man of fourteen, from Chi'town, and what a bow it is. The youngster has been shooting trad bows since he was six. He is "Zander Pommo" (Alex Pom) and knighted said this about him, " ...very gifted young man that has good morals and the right stuff to do anything and be anything he desires - sooner than we think." The bow David made for Zander is a Bamboo Backed Ipe with a stiffener of Osage between the Boo and the Ipe, It is 63" ntn, 48# @ 28". The handle is Purple Heart, Ipe, and cocobolo, Overlay tips are Ipe and Osage . Finally but not the least, David's wife dyed the bamboo a beautiful deep Burgundy color -  burgundy dye . I love everything about posting this entry to my pages. Good on all of you!

2) This is me (ber643 or Bernie) with the Holmegaard Bow I just completed. Made from a Hickory stave that was gifted to me.  I finished her "Au Natural", with Polypro and then paste wax. Her Name is "Hannah Holmi" because she was brought into final tiller and weight on the day Tropical Storm Hannah hit here at our home. She is 66" ntn, 40# @ 26", and has quite good manners. (She also shoots better than I do,  most of the time - LOL) Tiller and design on the Holmis is a little different - Basically, the "inner" (thin) limbs do all the bending (work) while the "outer" (narrow but thick) limbs remain stiff, allowing a lower string angle  to prevent finger pinch and/or stacking.

3) I am proud to enter beside me a pair of brilliantly smiling eyes and a great little story. This is Shashana who has a great interest and pride in matters Native American. Her father "Yokut" of PrimitiveArcher.com got his long distance friend "N2(everything)" to inform him, over the phone and internet, how he might build a bow for her Birthday - his first ever attempt. You see the results (and resulting smile) in this Full Draw picture and another of the BOW here . Shashana's Dad has the bug now and will soon be building bows for the Birthdays of his younger daughter and  son. Good work, Dad, and we'll be looking forward to the addition of her siblings to these Full Draw chronicles/pictorials also. The bow is Maple, backed with Leopard patterned silk and is 14# @ 15".

4) This is a little different Full Draw pic than we are used to in these pages but Logan Coffey's Dad, James, ("702plmo") sent it to me because he liked it of his young archer. I can't help but feel that, while we don't see the arch of the bow as much, it is a perfect study of the focus that will go into making a great little shooter. Beside, James is one of "Indiana's Finest", and I ain't arguing with no lawman! LOL. Thank you, James, fine photo.

5) Friend, Lee Miller just sent me this Full Draw of him with his favorite bow - a beautiful Javaman Grizz. It is Osage veneers and Bamboo cores with Osage and Cocabola riser and static tips. 51# @ 27", 63" AMO. A real beauty, Lee, thanks for thinking of us.

6) Here I  (show off) Full Draw another bow I just completed. This is a laminated wood bow of Black Bamboo backed Ipe (BBI). It is 67" ntn , slim and trim at only one inch at the widest point, 36# @ 25" and shoots like a dream. I purchased the glue-up to make her from Richard's Bowyery in CA Her name is "Cowgirl" and let me tell you she is a sweet shooter, for sure. Riser and tip overlays are from a Darker type of Ipe and she wears a shaved sealskin arrow pass and stacked leather rest, with black leather handle wrap. Hope you like her looks. I am very pleased with her in all ways.

Row Nine: 1) Nick, of NL (Netherland) and "nickf14", of PaleoPlanet, Likes to make sapling bows and makes some fine looking and performing ones. This one is made from an Ash sapling of about 1 1/2" diameter. The bow is 55", 54" ntn, 53# @ 25"and has tip overlays of another wood variety. He also likes to leave a little of the Cambrium on the backs of his bows for interesting looks and camo effect. Great work, keep it up, Nick, and we'll be watching for more from you in the future.

2, 3), & 4) Friend Manny of Hawaii just recently made and presented a bow to the lady who runs the archery shop where he lives. She kind of got him on the right track when he first got interested in archery and has always treated him right. He said she couldn't hardly put the bow down when he gave it to her. I know how that is from when he sent one to me. This one he refers to as a small hunting Guava bow. It is 57 1/2" ntn, 44# @ 26", has Paduk overlays and riser and is a beautiful character Guava bow. The scenery isn't too shabby either. Thanks for the pics, Manny. You always add interest and beauty to our pages as well as fine bows at Full Draw.

5) September Bow of The Month competition was tough at Primitive Archer again (for Sept.). I know because I had a bow in both classes this time - LOL.  First place Laminated Bow was taken by "orcbow", Adam Bonney of IN. His bow was inspired by an Eskimo Cable Back Bow and required a lot of thought and design work. It is actually two bows in one (kinda like a Penobscott Bow). It is 67", 73# @ 28" and made of Hophornbeam. BTW that is his Daughter in the Collage wearing a bow mask he made for a costume - neat, huh? I was proud to take second place to thgis interesting winner, with my BBI (seen in row 8 above) out of seven entrants - although I must admit, it wasn't what you'd call a "close second" - LOL. Congratulations, "orcbow".

6) First Self Bow for Sept, was won by "Ranger B", Jimmy Blackmon of TN. it is a tough bow Hackberry , and stated out as a straight Pyramid type bow but then Jimmy reduced the tips to more of a point. it is 61", 50# @ 27" and has Burmese Red Wopod tip overlays. Jimmy already got a deer with this fine bow - kinda hard to compete with that - but i was also proud to come in 3rd out of 22 entrants to this winner, with my Holmegaard bow (seen in row 8 above also). Congratulations, "Ranger B".

Row Ten: 1) Friend Thimo recently left CA on a special trip to CA to visit and soak in the ambience and doings of the great Pasadena group of primitive archery folks of Paleo Planet. From his fine pictorial re that fun and informative trip I was pleasured to draw (pun intended) a number of Full Draw pics. This first one is Thimo himself and it looks like it would be from near the end of the trip when our stalwart was beginning to fade - LOL. No such thing thoug as it was early on in his trip at the spot where the Pasadena Group gathers on a monthly basis.

2) Barbara is relatively new to the group but no stranger to traditional archery, as seen in this neat Full Draw. Barbara is newly engaged to the popular "Toxiophileken", and all of Ken's friends are real happy for him, as we feel he has found his soul mate. Not only is she an archer but does a little bow building too. Best to the both of them.

3) "Attenurb", David, is a most artistic fellow who is also a craftsman of extreme ability at anything he turns his hand too - the most recent of which is bow making and other primitive pursuits. He fit right in with the Pasadena group.

4) This is John, a friend of davids, Thimo said. From the back it looks like it could be "Greenchicken" but probably not. Anyway he knows how to Full Draw a trad bow.

5) The well-known, listened to, read, and liked Tim Baker at Full Draw amongst a number of other trad archers.

6) This is Thimo towards the end of his trip and as you can see he looks like his normal strong self, and is obviously no worse for the wear - LOL. Glad you enjoyed your trip and that the folks on the West Coast have expressed their pleasure at meeting you, Thimo. Thanks for the Full Draw pics.

See y'all on TBD, Page 19 - soon, I hope
