Mac's 150 Class South Texas Buck
Mac Waddle had his hunt in Webb county, Texas at the famed Covenent Ranch start in December, 2001. A couple of slow days started the hunt, but a breath of cold air caused all of that to change on day three. Mac and his guide went to a new spot that hadn't been hunted and before long an excellent 10 pointer with a drop tine that was considered a cull buck because it was over the hill at 9 1/2 years old showed up. Even with this unbelievably good "cull buck" luck, Mac was calm enough to slip a broadhead into the buck at 20 yards. He stayed in the stand when the buck ran off mortally wounded. As only the luck of the blessed would have it, within 10 minutes a second good buck came on the scene. Mac's guide said "Now this is the one we were waiting for..!" Mac again was able to put his arrow on the mark at 12 yards. Here Mac was with 2 good bucks stuck in 10 minutes after 3 days of hunting. This buck is comfortably in the 150 class which may make it a tough one to beat. When Mac returned to camp he got the entire family together for the great pic featured here. A fortunate man to get this buck and to have a wife that wanted to share his "fleeting moment of glory". With Mac and his wife in the hunter ranks, looks like he is nuturing children that will follow in his footsteps as the sportsmen and women of the future.
