Woodland Caribou And Moose Hunt
Newfoundland, Canada
Being the first to hunt from a new camp should have it's privileges, right? I exercise my "privilege" and forever name this place "Camp George." You gotta leave a mark someplace in this world, this will be mine !
My Guide,"Ern"                                 Transportation for the week

Day one, Monday, October 6, 2003
This was my first experience riding on an ATV, I got the rumble seat, no less ! The plan was to cross the Northwest Gander River about two miles from camp on an old logging road and head into what was deemed to be the best moose area. Mother Nature had other ideas and recent rains caused the river to be too high and fast for a safe crossing.

We began exploring trails that ran off the main road in the opposite direction and soon came upon three Caribou grazing along the edge of the trail around 8:00 a.m. One large stag and a mature female with antlers and a yearling female with a bald head.

Glassing the stag told us he only had one set of horns on the left side, so I opted to shoot him with the camera!
