2005 Texas Bowhunt
Burnet, Texas
October 9, 10, 11, 12

How do you say, "God Bless Texas," enough times before you start appreciating such a great place with so many fine folks! This was my second hunting trip there and it just gets better.

This year I was blessed to have my son, David, along and by the way He was acting by the time I left, I think He wants to stay there!

We were bowhunting at the Wild Horse Prairie Ranch and what is now known as the 2nd Annual Bowhunting.net Online Deerhunt and got into action right away the afternoon of our arrival. We hunted together in a Double Bull Blind.

My son was the first to spot the turkeys coming in and said, " Dad, they're gobblers, shoot one!" You see, I've had this 35 year turkey curse on me and have never brought one home. So, what did I do? I shot them both ..... with the camera ........ then the curse took over! A stupid rookie mistake caused me to watch my arrow skid past the Tom's feet. I never considered the yardage !!!!!!!!!

Our first afternoon hunt ended with a wary hog who kept trying to come into the feeder and busting us every time he got downwind. Even heard him growling behind the blind as darkness came upon us.
