Growing up in the 50's in Pennsylvania, Texas was " The Lone Ranger " on TV. Later, as an adult and a hunter it was deer hunting in magazines and TV that attracted my attention to the Lone Star State. Always wanted to give Texas deer hunting a try, but job commitments and raising a family always got in the way.All that changed this past summer when Robert Hoague of the Bowhunting.net announced an on line bow hunt and invited folks who frequent the web site to participate. Tony Dukes, one of the Bowhunting.net personalities, was the contact person and after an email or two and a phone call, I was going !
Tony Dukes
Outdoor Writer and all-around nice guy.Tony was after a "biggun" and is willing to wait
to get him ! No doubt, we'll be reading about
it after the season.I've followed many interesting hunting stories in the past few years posted by Robert Hoague and knew I was in for an adventure. On my arrival in Burnet on October 10th, I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly Texas handshakes. I was about to begin what had long been only a dream for me. The Bowhunting.net daily reports can be found at the link above. I arrived on Sunday, Day #3, and began hunting that afternoon.
